چکیده

Biometric authentication provides a high security and reliable approach to be used in security access system. Personal identification based on hand vein patterns is a newly developed recent year. The pattern of blood veins in the hand is unique to every individual, even among identical twins, and it do not change over time. These properties of uniqueness, stability and strong immunity to forgery of the vein patterns make it a potentially good biometric trait which offers greater security and reliable features for personal identification. In this study, we have used the BOSPHORUS hand vein database which has been taken under a source of NIR infrared radiation. For feature extraction we applied appearance based method ICA which produces independent components. To control over the number of independent component we preprocessed data by PCA before applying ICA, and gives good experimental results. Keywordsdorsal hand vein, ICA, subcutaneous vein detection, BOSPHORUS hand vein database.

Feature Level Fusion of WLBP and HOG for Hand Dorsal Vein Recognition

In this paper, a new approach is proposed to extract features from the dorsal hand vein pattern. The modified Weber Local Binary Pattern (WLBP) is feature descriptor extracted, which effectively combines the advantages of WLD and LBP. WLBP feature vector consists of two components: Differential Excitation and LBP. The Differential excitation component derived based on Weber's law, which extract...

Hand Vein-based Multimodal Biometric Recognition

Multi-modal biometric recognition utilizes more than one modality for recognition of a person, when compared to the single modality with the help of enhanced security. The vascular patterns are one of the physiological biometrics and internal feature of the body, hence, it cannot be easily cracked, falsified or spoofed. This paper proposes a novel approach for biometric recognition, using finge...
